Description

Background

Mandy comes from a small, boring town in Nebraska, the second of four daughters born to a couple who were not extraordinary in any way. She dropped out of high school at sixteen, and got a job to bring another paycheque into their meager household.
A few years later, after moving in with her boyfriend, Stephen talked her into moving to Las Vegas with him, promising a richer and more glamourous life. After eight months of working two jobs to support Stephen when his music career didn't take off, she left him and moved into a smaller, more affordable apartment. They haven't spoken since.
Mandy and Agatha met at Dames & Devils a few years later, after Agatha was hired as a cocktail waitress. Agatha was young and troubled, not to mention her coke habit, and Mandy became oddly protective of her. She helped Agatha clean herself up and sort out her life, and they became close friends, even after Agatha moved on to a different career path.
A handful more years down the road, Mandy is now the manager of that same bar, and is living quite comfortable, albeit alone thanks in part to her no-nonsense attitude and blunt personality. She's built a decent association with certain unsavory aspects of Las Vegas, many of them regulars at the bar, because one simply never knows when they might come in handy. Some of them owe her favors, others take cash, but one way or another she can usually find what she needs in short order.

Personality

Mandy can be a little intimidating on first meeting her, and really, that doesn't change much after getting to know her. She's blunt, sometimes to a fault, and has no qualms about telling someone exactly what she thinks of them. She has no patience for people who play social 'games', who front and posture and gossip and try to out-drama-queen each other; it's a waste of time and just plain pathetic.
On the other hand, she tends to assume a matriarchal role, a position of leadership and nurture, to those who need it, or she simply feels a fondness for, and she's intensely loyal to her friends, even if others might not think they deserve it. They just need to be aware that she's a very firm believer in tough love.
